Baseball/softball academy opens

NORTH CODORUS TWP.- Gold Glove Sports Academy, an indoor baseball and softball training facility, recently opened at 955 Trinity Road, North Codorus Township.

Gold Glove leased 7,200 square feet of warehouse space to use for three training areas and seven multi-use indoor batting and pitching tunnels, which are completely covered in turf.

Owners Chris Hoiles and Matt Spangler decided it was time for York County to have an indoor training facility for athletes to develop their skills and work on fundamentals.

"Area athletes travel outside of the York/Adams area for instruction and team practices," Spangler stated in a news release. "The reason we built this facility, was to keep those athletes and aspiring athletes, close to home so they can have more access to the resources that we have to offer on a more consistent basis."

Arthur Rhodes, a former Orioles pitcher and 2011 World Series champion, will hold a pitching clinic from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 29 at Gold Glove Sports Academy.

This clinic includes instruction and an autograph session. Cost is $75 per participant.

Space is limited. Register online at www.goldgloveacademy.net.
