ANAHEIM -- For a while it looked like things couldn't have gotten much worse for the A's. Jarrod Parker struggled, the defense misplayed several balls, Scott Sizemore left the game with a left knee sprain, and the Angels were rolling after scoring five unanswered runs to take the lead.
Then a five-run seventh inning for Oakland changed everything. John Jaso took back the lead with a pinch-hit three-run homer. Two batters later, Brandon Moss smashed a pitch over the high wall in right field for a two-run home run that gave the A's a 9-5 lead and that would end up the final score.

Suddenly all the miscues of the early innings didn't seem to matter as much.
"Our defense wasn't great today and we didn't pitch like we normally do," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "When the offense continues to score runs in the fashion we do sometimes it overshadows the things you're doing wrong."
The A's have won six games in a row and have scored six or more runs in each of those victories. The offensive productivity means the team doesn't have to be as perfect as they'd like to be in other aspects of the game.
"It was a battle all night," Parker said. "I made a few pitches when I had to but not as many as I needed to. Guys picked me up big time."
Parker only lasted 3 1/3 innings. He has a 6.48 ERA to start the season and is struggling with his fastball command. On Tuesday, he was spotted a four run lead and labored through the outing.
"It's early, I don't think I've ever been a real quick starter but I am not going to make an excuse," Parker said. "I'll figure it out."
In the fourth inning Chris Resop relieved Parker with the bases loaded and one out and didn't allow a runner to score. He might have been the hero of the game until Jaso and Moss erupted for two home runs in the seventh. Moss went 3 for 4 with four RBI, and Jaso's pinch hit homer changed the complexion of the game.
"It was a wall scraper," Jaso said about his first ever pinch-hit home run. "It was on the shortest part of the fence. I was just hoping it would go out. It is a good lift for us, it deadens the other team so you can get the momentum going on the other side."
The A's comeback victory means they have matched their best start over the last 10 seasons. Perhaps more importantly, it came against their most potent division rival in front of a sellout crowd to spoil their home opener.
"We have a lot of confidence," Moss said. "We are definitely much happier 6-2 than 2-6."
